Grandview man, 27, charged in area highway shootings (Kansas City)

A 27-year-old Grandview man has been charged in the recent series of highways shootings, Jackson County prosecutors said Friday.

Mohammed (Pedro) Whitaker was charged with 18 felony counts related to 9 incidents. Charges included shooting into a motor vehicle and hitting a victim. More charges may be added, prosecutors said.

A series of at least 12 shootings started in early March. The latest shooting linked to the pattern occurred April 6. Three victims were wounded in the spree.

OK. If he works in Overland Park and lives in Grandview, then he probably traverses the infamous GRANDVIEW TRIANGLE.

I can understand why he is shooting at other cars. I have heard many say they want mounted .50cal machine guns on the front of their cars to help get ‘through’ the ‘triangle’.

Umm, maybe at one time, but not in the 39 years we've lived in the Kansas City area. We were advised to stay out of Grandview then, and it is still good advice.

That would put much of the metro area off limits for discerning folks then. I lived on each side of K.C. proper to be closer to work in the past, much less than 39 years ago. And yes, I'll admit it. We laughed at those who continued driving on flat tires. [And I'm white.]

The probable cause affidavit has him going "to work at 115th and Metcalf" (page 6). Google shows OptumRx located at 6800 W 115th St, which is right by Metcalf. The affidavit states he parked in a multilevel parking garage, and Google shows one of those a short way in from 115th and Metcalf. And there is a nearby street labeled Sprint Parkway which loops around a large campus of similar looking buildings. Turns out to be Sprint World HQ.
