Clearly the FCC and Fed. marshalls acted stupidly. This station has been on since '07 or so and was issued a $17k fine and a cease and desist order by the FCC in '08. Since then they have remained on air, perhaps protected by the likes of former Boston Mayor Tom Menino. Owner Charles Clemons ran for mayor last year and used the station to promote his campaign. Now apparently there were complaints either about that, or interferece with Greater Media's WROR FM 105.7 (oddly, GM also owns "Hot 96.9", a hip hop station that probably lost listeners to the illegal Touch 106.1...go figure.)

More JBT tactics on the people.
You know, if we don’t hang together, we will all hang separately.
I don’t care if the radio station was broadcasting “Kill the White People.” It’s their Constituitional right to do so, just as it’s our Constitutiona right to defend ourselves.
Away with Fedzilla!

Does the station own any cows?

All white people have to abide by FCC laws, this has gone on for 7 years and the station was used for political reasons on top of it. It should have been shutdown in 2007.
To: Westbrook
so broadcasting ‘ Kill White people’ from an illegally operating station is a constitutional right?

Race card ping!
Governor Deval Patrick (D-MA) [the states first African-American governor] today sharply criticized federal agents for shutting down an unlicensed radio station in Grove Hall and said he tried to dissuade them from raiding the station that bills itself as the fabric of the black community.

Its their Constituitional right to do so... No, it isn't. They are in violation of the Communications Act of 1934, and it's been tested in the courts many times. There are no exceptions for "urban" radio stations.

Indeed. And as some have pointed out what if this were a white-oriented station from the Charlestown section of the city? Would he be this up in arms if they had been raided?
To: George from New England
You are correct. I do find it surprising it’s operated so long, tells me there is some favoritism going on at the FCC dating back to the Bush years. I wonder why it has been tolerated?

issued a $17k fine and a cease and desist order Only one thing to do here; hire cowboys to round them up and shoot them up!
Pay only $977,000. Such a deal!
To: raccoonradio
While it may, too, have survived as long as this pirate station has, there would certainly not be the “outrage” we see with the closing of it now. This is Patrick’s Massachusetts, and Obastard’s feral government.

One person in Mass. ignores regulations issued by a federal agency and the governor criticizes the feds for enforcement actions.
Another person ignores regulations issued by a different federal agency in Nevada, feds send in armed troops to enforce their mandates, and the governor says what?

I don’t care what they broadcast as long as I remain free to defend myself.
As for “illegally operating station”, I’ve got a new perspective on this considering Cliven Bundy’s “illegally operating” cattle ranch.
I’m just sick of Fedzilla. I want them to shrink by a factor of 10 or more.
