Here is one book that is pretty good. It is a little esoteric so be prepared. “the story killers” by Terrence O. Moore. He teaches at Hillsdale college.
There are tons of information out there.
I have taught for over ten years and have seen some really stupid things come down the pike. This is by far the most damaging.
Point one: Common Core has never been tested anywhere. There are no studies as to if it will work or not.
Point two: It is still not complete. They are still working on it.
Point three: Read up on what a Lexile is. Books are “read” by a computer and then assigned a Lexile score. The computer counts the number of words per sentence and the length of the words. They then spit out a complexity scale score. You get idiotic results like the Grapes of Wrath being suitable for 2nd grade based on the Lexile score. The Common Core site even admits there are “problems with these Lexile scores”, it cannot handle poetry.
I can't stress enough this is horrible.
The person who lead the team that composed the standards for English has NEVER TAUGHT IN A CLASSROOM.
It gets worse but you need to educate yourself and your friends to fight this tooth and nail.

It hasn't even been tested? It went straight out to destroy children?
