John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
Love that mafioso tone those loving promises always have. “Nice soul ya got dere. Be a shame if sumfin happened to it.”
And the serpent said unto the woman, Ye shall not surely die:
5 For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.
Despite being asked, I don’t believe I’ve read that she’s identified what, if any beliefs she claims as her own.
And the woman said, WHOA!! A talking serpent!!
I don’t think I need to say how I feel about your post, Prairie. You all would know that I agree with you.
“Give not that which is holy unto the dogs, neither cast ye your pearls before swine, lest they trample them under their feet, and turn again and rend you.”
One is to be very careful with this passage. When it’s known that a person is attacking the Gospel, communication should be cut off as that person is not worthy of the Truth and is seeking only to undermine followers.
May God bless you all, and I hope to see y’all soon on another thread.
Warm Regards,
SC
Nah, the woman thought the serpent was some kind of phallic symbol. She was such a hussy.
Btw, I do believe that “Eve” is the root word for “evil”.
Imo there is an unwillingness of the Lady to search the information given to see for them self if true or not....selective reasoning comes into play and responses which tend to center around why certain things cannot be true and/or raises then further questions which, again, are evading the first questions asked, and continue to be repetitious as a means of avoidance.... Other times clear denial is evident when the facts are clearly presented.
So just what is the purpose of Lady’s engaging on this thread? Might be as was stated backthread...bordom....which translated is simply entertainment to occupy an otherwise uneventful life.
One thing is for certain...I think the rest of us have certainly enjoyed the “fellowship” of our faith. It is always a remarkable thing to hear people speak of that which we know...and they know as well, though never have met nor spoken together before. How marvelous is the witness of His good spirit throughout this thread...that we are His and He is ours!

Just getting back on FR...it’s late of course! HA!
But thank you...it’s always nice to have resources to share with others when they might need to locate items of interest. Lists are helpful as we all know.

Well I’m not sure I would call the dialog here being “yoked” to an unbeliever....rather it’s a gathering of like minds and hearts sharing the gospel and enjoying the “atmosphere” of like minds.....with visitors LoL!
However, it would seem there is a time when no amount of evidence is going to convince one, (whose mind may already be made up), of how the Jewish people could and did believe in Jesus and why others could not.
If it is not already at that juncture it would seem it soon will be.
I think Elsie said it very well....It’s not the questions we are not understanding, rather it’s the answers given that are not understood to the lady.
I responded....”You want to know the requirements of the Messiah from a Jewish perspective and how would they identify Him”.....
Your response...”That’s the first part. Why do I want to know that?”
How about you just continue with why that may be significant to you...
Maybe this might be of help concerning why Jews reject Jesus in their thinking....that is if the thread continues much more...
As I see it the Jewish people didn’t believe Messiah would be divine..God in the flesh....further Jewish Belief is Based Solely on ‘National Israel” Revelation,...i.e. God speaking to the entire nation....
Interesting is the one thing that most Jews have in common is they don’t accept Jesus as their savior. That’s the one main thing most all Jews agree and for many Jews that’s where their Judaism ends.... For them, Judaism means we don’t believe in Jesus. Even though for a non-Jew, the offer of Christianity is wonderful.... For a Jew, the offer of Christianity is getting something you already have, ( IE: at Mount Sinai where the Jews received the Law as a nation ) ....In their minds the relationship has already been given to them at Mount Sinai. (In our Christian language it might be said..to them their Salvation happened at Mt. Sinai)
Further, in their minds the Messiah will change the entire world when He comes, there won’t be any question about who He is because He will reveal Himself to all mankind. They also expect and believe the Temple must be there when he comes.
Additionally...one of the primary reason that Jews do not believe in Jesus as the Messiah is that after his arrival and death the world was not redeemed....They continue to see at least as much suffering, pain, and tragedy in the world as there was before Jesus—probably much more. Their Messiah will bring Peace....
Further...The idea that eternal punishment would follow from rejecting Jesus seems downright evil to a Jew....That someone could live a noble life and not be saved, when another could live a depraved and cruel life and through a true conversion of his heart at the end of life still be saved, that simply doesn’t add up in their moral balance sheet, which is the law.
Just these few items represent just how difficult it is for a Jewish individual to believe Jesus is the Messiah...which is why without God giving them understanding of this truth...they simply cannot believe..

.....”Despite being asked, I dont believe Ive read that shes identified what, if any beliefs she claims as her own”.....
Might be Jewish or a branch off from, who have borrowed from Judism....many false religions/cults do just that.......some of the comments/posts are similar arguments and statements....
Otherwise, Likely isn’t a believer in any particular faith...just a student of religion so to speak.
I think she’s playing games...getting folks spinning in circles then snickering at her own cleverness. I remember her getting upset about a compatriot( a real trouble making troll) of hers getting zotted; makes me think she has “friends” watching this whole circus.
Eternal death has a kind of Mafioso tone to it....by the way
“Nice soul ya got dere. Be ashamed if sumfin happened to it.” We’re all born with a “horse’s head” already thrown into our cribs, it’s the curse of our species!
Now be a nice statue and let God make you truly alive.
I think I’ve said this to you before: You are Psyche, too...and God would show you his face!(drawn from “Till we have Faces by CS LEWIS...another book I desperately recommend to you)....
By the way:
John 3:16-18
16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.
18 He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.
I think that it partially has to do with their Collective sense of God some day saving their nation vs the individual accountability each man has before God. Each human has an extremely wicked heart and each human needs one’s own particular surgery. Even the most noble among us has a sin debt that Christ must erase. God saves each individual that will come to him...the parables of Christ that speak of all sorts of “wicked” folks being invited to the rich man’s feast when his own friends wouldn’t come...describes God’s earnest desire to heal the most vile among us spiritually. The natural man doesn’t understand such love.
It isn’t just Jews of course that have an issue with “ moral tally sheet mentality”. Prideful judgmentalism and the desire to be God is often masqueraded by a hyper righteous attitude...hence Christ’s parable of the Pharisee and the sinful Publican!
