Milk: $3.79/Gal
Tomatoes: 3.89/Lb
Green Peppers: 2.49/Lb
Ground Beef (80% Lean): $4.89/lb
Chicken Thighs (Cheapest Cut): 2.29/Lb
Butter: $4.29/Lb
These are just a few select items from my grocery shopping this weekend. These prices are at least double and in some cases near triple what these items cost just 5 years ago.
Granted, this is Commie-cago but still... Time to wakey wakey!
Prices have "SOARED" and the American people are already well aware. How can we miss it? But that doesn't stop the Govt. from not including energy, fuel and food prices in their inflation calculations at a time when literal "war" has been declared on the energy industry. This of course, drives up food prices but hey! What, me worry?
In our Houston suburban store:
Milk: Borden’s 2% $2.39 for half gallon
Tomatoes: 2.99/lb
Green or Red Peppers: $10.00/10 (have to buy 10)
Ground Beef: $5.29/lb (80% Lean)
Chicken Breast Filets: $5.49/lb
Whole Chickens: $1.19/lb
Butter: $2.97/lb (store brand)
Apples: $1.99/lb
We also don’t pay sales tax on food - not sure if you do or not.
Remember years ago we used to buy whole chickens for $.19 a pound. Bought three a week and 5 lbs. of hamburger for $5.00. You can’t even get 2 lbs. of hamburger now for what I used to spend for meat which fed our family of four for a week.
