I agree Jim...
I don’t know how this will turn out, but it’s refreshing to see so many turn out to protect this rancher.
My grandfather had a homestead deed to a quarter section of land in Kansas, and the deed was actually signed by President Jackson... Promising that it would be his and his heirs into perpetuity.
HUD seized the farm in the seventies. compensated him at $100 per acre. Now it’s the Wichita airport and a golf course and an industrial park... This is all within the city limits of Wichita Kansas. It would be worth a hundred million today.
Loosing his farm killed him...
Back in the eighties, our family dentist, who was also a farmer and lived down the road from us, was fighting state government who were going to seize his land via eminent domain for a highway. He told us that as he was arguing with one of the a-holes who came out to bully him around, he told the guy that the land had been in his family since the Civil War. The guy’s response: “So? I’ve taken land that was granted to a family by King George!” Like he was proud of it.
Seen that to often to count.
My grandfather said that great grandpa bought the land from the UP railroad (that is how they financed the great railway). He also said that the Indians who were there before thought they had clear ownership.
My parents lost the farm. We still have some land, and the place haunts me in my dreams, but it is gone. One of these days, a big moneyed interest will push us out of the small toe hold we have left, and use the state to do it.
It was there before your GF....was ripped off.
Wow, I am sorry to hear that story, but I bet it was repeated all over the country. This unconstitutional government has been raping people and taking their property for over a century.
