I believe you are correct. My research indicates that the federal government imposed an unconstitional requirement for statehood upon Nevada to disclaim all rights and title to the lands puchased from Mexico under the Treaty of Guadalupe Hidalgo when it did not do so for other states. (e.g. Texas)
You know how I feel about Texas sovereignty and States’ Rights. I believe Nevada has a constitutional right to those lands.
Is it folly for me to look toward the Constitution to attempt to find support for Cliven Bundy and to find support for opposing the federal ownership of lands in Nevada? Is it as simple as a moral right versus moral wrong?
I find myself wanting to justify Cliven Bundy’s actions legally. Is that necessary?
