A rapid shift to wind and solar power is needed if the world is to avoid catastrophic global warming, the United Nations warns in a crucial report today.
Emissions of greenhouse gases need to be cut by up to 70 per cent before 2050 to control climate change, the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) says.
‘Large-scale changes in energy systems’ are required, with coal power stations to be switched off and replaced by wind and solar.
And the transformation needs to be made in the next 15 years or controlling climate change will become increasingly harder and more expensive.
The report was published in Berlin today after a week of line-by-line drafting and re-drafting.
The final version, written by 235 international scientists and economists, says that efforts so far have failed to stop spiralling emissions of greenhouse gases – which have risen to ‘unprecedented levels’ in the past decade....

We have a smart scientist here in AL (Huntsville) who talks to Rush once in a while and he is down to earth, sensible, and does not agree at all with the "great UN minds" who all work together to save the planet--er,ah-- to get more money and regs.
The sky is falling crowd likes to say the majority of scientists believe in GW, but that is their spin.
It is the same as when the talking heads quote "generals" as taking a certain military stance and parade them on screen like they are representing a majority. In reality, we have hundreds of active and retired generals, most of whom do not go along with the news touted to support this admin.
It's all a spin. Sometimes I get dizzy just listening to them.

Too many tortoises. We need to destroy their habitats with solar installations.
Meanwhile, we also need to burn all our corn as fuel to drive up corn prices and meat prices. We also need to encourage Pacific islanders to tear down their forests and replant with oil palms to generate "green" energy.
We also need to kick a few cattle off "pristine" desert lands while allowing millions of illegal aliens to trash other pristine desert lands so long as their illegal activities can be repackaged as "acts of love".

The high pressure “act now” bit is straight out of a Garden Weasel commercial.
Them first. Fix solar panels and windmills atop their smelly old building and tell them to have at it. Then disconnect them from the grid.
