DEVELOPING: One person has been killed in shootings at two Jewish centers in Kansas, authorities say.
Overland Park Police told Fox News that the shootings occurred at the Jewish Community Center in Overland Park and the nearby Village Shalom, an assisted living facility. Officials who spoke to Fox 4 said another person was injured in the shootings, but police would not confirm the report.
The young man who died has been identified by church and high school.

You may not like it, but these organizations are all over the place in America
I don’t care. Thanks anyway.
It sounds to me like the dude shot them if they weren’t Jewish
May our Lord (Himself) welcome the victims home. Am certain our Lord will throw a Celebration.
But two of the three victims are Methodist, if he asked if they were Jewish the conclusion is that he shot them because they said no...
I don’t buy the reports just because they are repeated by people who don’t know anything.
I have never seen any arms at the Jewish Community Center.
Haven’t been to Village Shalom
Incredible irony. Just yesterday I told my wife that I would carry this year (legal, of course) at Yom Kippur services this year.. My prayers to the families of those killed.
Me being none the powerful ... wanted to send out a message for a fellow FReeper by asking. Am sorry I failed.
This is new information VikingOne. Have not read this anywhere else. My Thanks, I suppose but no celebration here. Prayers for the Victims and the Victims Families and Friends.
Please do.
I lived on the Kansas side for a few years as a young man, not far from 18th and State (not far from work back then).
;-)
The only issue is whether to carry the .380 or 9 mm. Comfort or stopping power?
Two of the three killed were a Methodist Grandfather and his 14 year old grandson.
Third victim is unknown.
For those unfamiliar with the area, this is in Overland Park, Kansas in Johnson County. Kansas a suburban area with many of the most upper middle class suburbs for the Greater Kansas City Metropolitan area.
Kansas City straddles the state line with Downtown Kansas City, Missouri being the hub of 35 cities large and small on both sides of the state line.
There is great ecumenical involvement in this center and the various Protestant, Catholic and Jewish groups do all sorts of activities together — definitely not a community with tense religious undertone as an earlier poster seemed to imply.
I lived within this area for over 60 years and my father and I did business with this center. A friend of mine works in management at one of the facilities involved.
Any word on the name of the shooter? Have been looking and am having no information come up.
Not going to speculate ... Will wait on information.
My neighbors called me “that white boy” or “Hong Kong Fooey.” Worked out in a place in my own neighborhood (saw Tony Chiaverini) but also at Mr. Lee’s, a little closer to your turf.
Whew. I’m gettin’ old.
