Catherine Engelbrecht became the face of the IRS scandal with her riveting testimony before Congress on how her group True the Vote was targeted by the IRS for selective persecution and harassment.
Recently, it was discovered that Democratic Congressman Elijah Cummings had a hand in the IRS targeting True the Vote.
You might remember Cummings as the grandstanding Democrat who railed against Darrell Issa’s investigation of the scandal after a Congressional hearing with IRS official Lois Lerner had closed (and then implied that Issa was racist):
Further making the situation ironic and unsightly for justice-avoiding Democrats is that emails show Lois Lerner improperly fed Elijah Cummings’ staff tax information on True the Vote via email correspondence.
Engelbrecht responded in a blistering letter entitled, “No More Lies, Mr. Cummings; Tell America the Truth“:
"Washington is reeling as Rep. Elijah Cummings’ (D-MD) true role in the IRS abuse scandal has come to light. Emails released by the House Government Oversight and Reform Committee, of which Cummings is the ranking member, show Cummings and his staff communicating with Lois Lerner while the IRS targeted True the Vote for abuse.
“Today’s committee action reveals what we knew all along. Partisan politics and the weaponization of government against opponents of this administration is real and continues,” said True the Vote president Catherine Engelbrecht. “Elijah Cummings has blocked the IRS abuse investigation all along. We now see clearly that two branches of government have colluded to target and silence private citizens.
“America has come to a tipping point,” Engelbrecht said. “No more lies. No more cover-ups. No more collusion. Enough is enough. Finally, we have a chance for the rule of law to be re-established, thanks to the bold efforts of Chairman Issa and Rep. Jordan.”
Engelbrecht added, “We filed an ethics complaint against Rep. Cummings in February. Today we’re amending that filing to include this latest revelation. As I have said in my testimony before Congress; I will not retreat, I will not surrender, I will not be intimidated. I will not ask Rep. Cummings, Lois Lerner, Barack Obama, or anyone else, for permission to exercise my constitutional rights.”
Anyone with common sense could see the moment that Elijah Cummings put on a big acting performance at Lois Lerner’s testimony (where she plead the Fifth – again) that the Democrat was attempting to hide something from the public, while shifting attention onto Republicans by vilifying them. Now we know why.
I suspect Issa knew these emails existed and that is why he never offered Lois Lerner immunity.
It may take much, much longer to overcome the coverup, but since Issa knows Cummings and other democrats and other IRS personnel are involved, he’s going for the big criminal charges play to damage the Democrat party long term.
This is where the IRS scandal is most significant. Every American who pays taxes can understand this type of corruption. Actually associating the weaponization of the IRS with the Democrat Party could be devastating. I’m sure that is what Issa is thinking.

I want his Felonious, conspiratorial behavior to remain in the public eyes so that across this nation, voters will be motived to vote against Libs.
Whether Cummings goes to jail now or later is not as important as his behavior driving voters back to conservatism.

The problem is with losers like "Dan form Witchita", who post their dismissive crap at such times as when we start getting some traction on these kinds of things and they just turn around and strangle the baby in the crib with their defeatist's rhetoric.

Cummings and all the liberals know this and will continue on doing what they are doing with no fear. They don't care if they get caught, because they know nothing will happen to them.
You are probably correct, but it's our responsibility to make sure it doesn't go down the memory hole, and these enemies of the Constitution are held accountable for their actions.

Ethics complaints are filed with a Congressional Committed charged with handling such. The Committee’s work is secret, unless it decides to impose some sort of penalty. The Committee is controlled by the majority party, and is 1) partisan, and 2) protective of ALL members (i.e., there really is no such thing as Congressional ethics).
The so-called mainstream press is missing a great story here...
Tells me we need to stink with this case... If Lois Lerner goes to jail democrats are going to have to rethink the price of being criminal..
His voters will NEVER be driven back to conservatism. No politician will attack and remove a black Congressman with seniority. He is crooked as H*ll and it does not matter. Indeed it is Issa that may end up in jail.

Cummings is on the NATIONAL STAGE. It may be over. For example, a Texan announced that there will never be another Republican President. The problem is the “THIRD WORLD INVASION.” They are all registered Democrats.
