A very firm “Go in the cage!” while pointing to the open cage door. I guess at first, I put a dog treat or two in there, while saying the same.
Now, if I say “Go in the cage!” they go in and won’t come out, even with the door open, unless I tell them to come out. This doesn’t work if I leave, though. If I ever forget to close the cage door; when I come back they’ll have tore up the house.
We trained our two dogs (min schnauzer and maltese) when they were puppies to like their cages. We always throw some kibble and bits or what nots in the cage to get them in. But they both sleep in them at night time, and they like it.

I can handle it. My other dog stayed outside when I went out but Jackie got out of the yard so still working on that.
