Don't forget the Annular Solar Eclipse on April 29 of this year. This will actually be a full solar eclipse, but with the moon at apogee, meaning it's farthest point away from the Earth. So visually it is smaller, and doesn't quite cover the entire disk of the sun. Thus a ring, or annulus, of the sun visually surrounds the moon.

Annular eclipses are quite rare, and this one occurs after the first blood moon on April 15. And as for the date, there is definitely something important about it - after all, it wouldn't have been chosen by William and Kate for their royal wedding if it didn't signify something. Which, of course, makes its general non-mention in this blood moon/solar eclipse series of events particularly interesting. For it has literally become "the eclipse that is not named."

Now why is that?

I’m sure the LGBT crowd will celebrate this one...
