A distinct possibility, within my lifetime 35 HUNDRED for a new car has gone from a very high price to an impossibility and a laughable impossibility at that. In 1950 you could have bought TWO new cars with 35 HUNDRED dollars and had enough left to buy enough gasoline to make a good start on wearing them out. You could have actually bought THREE of the low end new Ford and had a little gas money left. In those days 35 thousand would have bought a very nice farm with a fine home, livestock, outbuildings and equipment.
None of the current DISinformation being spewed by the government is more absurd than the fantasy they spread about low inflation. My current social security check for an entire year won’t buy the lowest price new car I know of, in 1950 that same amount was the salary of a fairly high level executive who would have been driving a new Cadillac, Imperial or Lincoln, living in a big fine home, taking his well dressed wife out to nice eating places and sending his children to some of the best schools.
