Because SS Cards say pretty specifically “NOT FOR IDENTIFICATION”?
Not any more... they haven't for several years now.
My question - when was the law changed to allow the SS Card to be used for ID? Not that it matters - the card was created.... drumroll... as a form of ID related to Social Security... Sigh
