Dollar Tree is smart though - they opened in strip malls and outlots. Family Dollar actually built STORES.
This is simply oversaturation of the market. There are about three various Dollar stores within a square mile of each other.

Maybe they can lower their prices, and rename it “42 Cents Store”?

47 Cents Store would be more appropriate, although “racist.”

Dollar General pisses me off. They have $5 off $25 at least once per month and usually twice per month. They used to take that $5 off the top BEFORE other coupons but then they changed their policy and accepted the $5 off if your total was $25 AFTER other coupons. Made it a BAD DEAL for me.

No, I think Dollar General is fine. The most recent one in my area was a necessity. Only place to buy underwear in a 25 mile radius AND it seems to feed off of the nearby Kroger.
Family Dollar just doesn’t plant itself in the right locations. Dollar General is better at that and has more name brand items.

"47 Cents Store.."
Is that 50 cent w/o the tax?

I just designed a parking lot for one...its being built right now.
Wonder if it will close.
I actually find them to be quite expensive.

What prices can they use for their going-out-of-business sale?
To: kingattax
You know the economy is bad when dollar stores don’t have the business! (Or else really good, I guess, but we know that isn’t the case here)
