A standoff like this happened in the mid 1700s at Seth Warner's house in Vermont.

The New York governor had ordered his militia to arrest Warner.

Warner, and the rest of the Vermonters had bought their land from the New Hampshire governor.

Both entities (later, states) claimed ownership of Vermont.

The colonel in charge marched his troops up to Warner's house.

As he raised his sword to "knock" on the door with the hilt, he heard the sound of hundreds of muskets being cocked from behind trees and stone walls surrounding him.

He ordered his troops to "about face", and marched back to New York.

Wow,Reminds me of when we first joined the Pro-Life movement. They asked us to come to an Abortion Chamber. When we got there-there were hundreds of protesters including seminarian students holding a large wooden Cross. They were all shouting and some were praying. The cops showed up with horses and dogs and Paddy wagons. The abortionist snuck in through a warehouse next door I saw him.Everybody started yelling there he is and the cops started hitting people with bully clubs and throwing them head first in the back of the Paddy wagons. As soon as they left to get more people the pro-lifers jump out and joined the group again. My spiritual friend screamed and the person I was with said he felt like punching a cop so I thought it best to leave.
