Residents of Saginaw County, Mich. could soon find themselves confronted by a behemoth best suited for the war-torn streets of Afghanistan. According to Sheriff William Federspiel, his department recently obtained a Mine Resistant Ambush Proof (MRAP) vehicle straight from the U.S. Army.

That is true but the police departments will have to pay for maintenance and fuel. I suspect that it will not take very long for many police departments to realize that the cost to keep these vehicles running will be eating up their budgets.
