To switch one computer to Windows 7 would cost me over $10,000.00 over the next two years. Win 7 will not run the version of proprietary software I use in my work, and the new version requires quarterly fees on top of the upgrade costs. The version I am running was paid for when I paid for it. No quarterly ransom.

Easy for you to say. I bought a Dell XP computer for my mother-in-law with Office factory installed. She doesn't have the money to pay for Windows 7 or 8. Microsoft has scared her into thinking her bank accounts will be stolen if she doesn't upgrade.

Hey, I have heard of many horror stories, where someone upgraded from XP or VISTA to WIN 7/8 , and had their machines crash and burn due to resource issues. Poor consumer has already (1) sunk money into an upgrade disk that is worthless, (2) Had to by a new machine due to MS forced obsolescence.

If this isn't as sleazy as it gets, I don't what is.
