Dear Anti-Vaxxers: You Want Pure Nature? OK, Die Young.

None of the New York parents who are refusing to vaccinate their children today were around the city in the summer of 1916, which is good for them and good for any of the kids they might have had. It was in that summer that 27,000 children nationwide were struck by a polio outbreak, 9,300 of them in New York. Of those 9,300 victims, 2,700 died. The Salk family at 116th St. and Madison Ave. escaped the scourge, meaning that their two-year-old son Jonas was spared. History notes that when he grew up, he had a little score-settling to do with the poliovirus.

Parents who oppose vaccines are not only misinformed, they’re spoiled, having grown up in a world that stands behind the berms built by the scientists and vaccine developers who came before them. If you’ve never seen measles — or polio or whooping cough or mumps — you have the luxury of believing they don’t exist.

“We live in a very healthy community,” said one of the sublimely glib doctors cited in the Mother Jones story. “The incidence of these diseases are very low, not only here but nationwide. And so it’s safe to do a modified vaccine schedule, in my opinion.”

But the incidence of these diseases is very low precisely because most doctors and parents don’t think the way you do and do vaccinate on schedule. “We live in a very dry community,” the doctor might as well have said. “So it’s safe not to maintain the levees and flood walls that have protected us until now, in my opinion.”

And so you drown; and so unvaccinated children get sick. The words “in my opinion” are not themselves some kind of rhetorical vaccine. They can, instead, be the pathogen. Like all pathogens, they can kill.

Excellent list. The only things it doesn’t mention is how the toxins etc are “washed” in various formaldehydes. Carcinogenic and neurotoxic itself.

Here, an example from the pertussis part of the vaccine:

- Pertussis:

Bordetella pertussis cultures grown in Stainer-Scholte medium, with added casamino acids and dimethyl-beta-cyclodextrin.

Toxin detoxified with glutaraldehyde.

Filamentous hemagglutinin is treated with formaldehyde.

Residual aldehydes are removed by ultrafiltration.

Individual antigens adsorbed separately onto aluminum phosphate.

Really? So ice cream DOES cause drowning!! The classic example of correlation does not equal causation in every statistics 101 class. (More ice cream consumed in the exact same months that the most drowning occurs.)

If you believe organic food causes autism, please spray all your produce with roundup as if it were ketchup. Bon appetit.

Actually, many cases of polio were caused by the live vaccine. Even after the government admitted that all cases of polio were directly or indirectly from the vaccines, the vaccine companies were given two more years to stop using the live virus.

My DIL is in labor even as we speak. What you say scares me. I don’t understand why the rush to vaccinate them so early either. Why give them all at once? And why so young?

“Washed” in formaldehyde.
Yikes.

I recently found that most or at least many (the article did not say or I don’t remember) artificial fragrances are manufactured with formaldehyde, to prolong the fragrance. That’s why it’s so hard to wash the artificial stink out of anything. And 95% of artificial fragrances are manufactured from various petrochemicals, with some from coal tar. Side topic...

My first child was born in early 70s, I did the first 2 polio vaxes and then thought - “I’m putting who knows what in my tiny baby????!!!” and that was it. She was very healthy until the vx’s and then had ear infections on and off until 5 yrs old. The next one I didn’t vax at all. So that was all they had, until the younger one went to school with relatives when she was 17, and had whatever vaxes were required, but at least she had them as a teenager, not an infant.

I can see tetanus vax.

I don’t have a problem with healthy adults choosing to have a flu shot. They probably can handle the mercury and aluminum and other toxins, and it’s their choice.

But flu vaccines are URGED for pregnant women. There is no more sensitive human on the earth than an unborn baby. The amount of mercury alone is far far more than that baby should ever second hand consume in mom’s diet (tuna or etc). Why is it suddenly ok to overdose on a brain shattering toxin if it’s injected at one fell swoop when mama should never eat that much? No nurse even blinks when she injects flu shots into toddlers, babies, or pregnant women! It would be better for the child’s brain for mama to have a hot night of booze and cocaine than to have a flu shot.

If the studies point to an interaction of genetics and environment, what genetics are different in 40yr olds that haven’t had prior pregnancies compared to those that have? Because it looks like the entirety of that difference is the exposures between age 25 and age 40. Ie, the environment. The older you are, the more ‘exposed’ you are. Else there would also be age differences in strictly genetically heritable diseases as well.

This does not compute. There is NO age differences in some strictly genetic diseases because there is no environmental component in them like the previously mentioned x-linked disorders. Age itself is an environmental factor, not just because of possible cumulative exposure to some third factor.

Oh, I know - just doing my lists I ran into on one main topic...

In my view the quantity of all manner of chemicals people contact via air, food, water and other methods are causing many health problems, including CNS which can influence behavior problems.

In fact I don’t think there’s any argument about it. If people want to argue about it I’m not interested in taking part (I don’t mean you here), because I’ve read too much and experienced too much.

“autism epidemic began.”

First off, I don’t believe in the autism scare, and that comes from an entire family of medical practitioners. Every kid that doesn’t sit still like a total zombie is considered “autistic”. It comes from adults that don’t like children and want them to just shut up or go away. Children are not allowed to play and be the hyperactive kids they are supposed to be. These so-called adults forgot they were children once and ran around and didn’t pay attention, either. These adults just want little miniature adults instead of children.

How I wish you were right.

You’re not. You’re not even close. There is a huge difference between an active, boisterous child and a child on the spectrum. Even a highly functioning one. Very active children are climbing, figuring out how to paint with butter (this just happened to me an hour ago), exploring, bouncing balls, etc. All the stuff you did as a kid.

A child who has asperger’s or highly functioning autism is completely different. They will be absorbed in one small part of the toy. They might be rolling the ball in their hands, looking at it. They won’t be re climbing the couch and jumping off it in joy over and over. They will be bouncing repetitively, maybe on their toes - and it just doesn’t seem like fun, it seems like compulsion - or may be repetitive rolling on the floor, or flapping their hands. These repetitive behaviors are called “self-stimming” because they seem to be a comforting stimulation that helps them feel “good” when the real stimulation of the world gets too much. My son used spinning. Often he would just be spinning and spinning, and he explained he “just needed to.” It did calm him.

Autism is a disease of lack of social abilities, lack of being able to read social cues. Having everything overwhelm you to the point of utter frustration, at which point you break down in rage or unhappiness.

It’s not kids kept from recess.

Your description is wrong. Often it is the kid sitting like a zombie who has autism.

You insulted my intelligence at least three times upthread, but you are woefully ill informed about autism and its neurological differences.

I don’t have children but if I did I think I would take your approach. I would want them to be vaccinated for the things I was vaccinated for in the fifties, but not turned into a pincushion.

As I said yesterday on another health-related thread, not everything is about politics and we do ourselves a disservice when we see everything through that prism. And we do ourselves a disservice when we never see things through that prism, too, of course.

Just a few days ago on the news, I heard that they’ve decided that vaccinations have 0% to do with autism. Yes, it was the MSM. But Stephen Barrett on quackwatch.org has been saying that for years. I know that Barrett is sometimes too much of a zero-tolerance hard nose even for me, but I prefer him to the “health news” and advice from Coast to Coast, Newsmax, Michael Savage and the usual suspects. Have you ever wondered why the anti- vax crowd and their friends are always complaining about the greed of Big Pharma and other conspirators, yet they themselves are usually selling something—books, vitamins, etc.? Just saying.
I’m no scientist, but my theory about the upsurge in autism is that in addition to more diagnoses(in the old days people with Aspergers may have just been thought odd), its something genetic. I think that’s what they will find.

Congrats, grandma!! (Or grandpa)

Ask your DIL and son to not give the baby any vaccines in the hospital. Have them tell the doc and nurses they will decide once they get home and can get those shots at their pediatrician’s office. Then have them read up on all the vaccines and decide for themselves, if they haven’t read both sides of all vaccines. There actually are sources out there that are information, not pro or con. There is one book by a nurse that did explain both sides.cant think of the name.

Thanks Yaelle! I’m a first-time grandma and so very excited! Yes, I will pass on that message. My son and DIL are very concerned about vaccinations as well.

” Age itself is an environmental factor, not just because of possible cumulative exposure to some third factor.”

Then the numbers of diagnosed kids of 40yr old mom’s wouldn’t depend on whether those kids were the first born or the tail end of 15 or more. So the increased numbers of asd kids wouldn’t have anything to do with whether or not their moms had had previous kids. And thus the increased numbers of asd kids wouldn’t be because women had ‘put off childbearing’.

Because until the 1940’s and 50’s, women generally had kids till they couldn’t anymore. Usually in their early/mid 40’s.

As far as lifespans are concerned, I think the stats are mostly crap. In my genealogy research I’m finding lots of males in my family were living well into their 70s and 80s back into the 1500s.

Spot on - We have our 'tree' done, some as far back as 400.

but just our lines in the 1600's - in Plymouth. They lived good long lives - and when they died - it was natural and not long , lingering deaths.

This was after leaving the poluted Old World' behind, eating fresh, vegetables un-laced with GOMs, Growth Hormones, chemicals, antibiotics - and having fresh, clean water - not recycled sewer water with prescrioptions drugs intact, not bleached, etc -

They grew separate herb gardens.

For example, take a few of the more prominant Mayflower Pilgrims: Elder William Brewster - died just shy of 80th birthday - Gov. Wm. Bradford wrote of his death - he felt ill one day and died the next "He was near fourscore years of age (if not all out) when he died. He had this blessing added by the Lord to all the rest; to die in his bed, in peace, amongst the midst of his friends,..."

John and Priscilla Alden: John died age 88, Priscilla, age 83.

Gov. Bradford, died relatively younger - at 67 - his wife, Alice, died age 80

Myles Standish died age 75

John Howland - died age 81, his wife died age 80

Well, you get the picture.

BTW, you staunch defenders of the vaccines who proclaim, unequivocably that vaccines aren't connected to Autism - Please tell us how it is that the rise of Autism has the identical rise in incidence chart as the use of these multiple vaccines?

IOW, if you KNOW vaccines have no connection, then tell us what does?

Explain this: Rates of all forms of autism in the U.S. may be substantially higher than previously estimated, according to a new government report that found that 1 out of every 50 school-age children – roughly one on every school bus – has the condition.

That's dramatically higher than the 1 in 88 announced by a different government agency last year."

Explain this:

The risk of a firstborn with an autism spectrum disorder triples after a mother turns 35 and a father reaches 40.

The team found a 20% increase in the risk of autism with each 10-year increase in the parents' ages. Also, they found a couple's fourth child has half the risk of the first, regardless of the parents' ages.
