However, Romney continued to use Community Lawn Service and its illegal alien landscapers for a year after the Boston Globe first reported on December 1, 2006 that illegal aliens were providing the landscaping at Romney's home in Belmont.
The owner of the landscaping company was Ricardo Saenz, a legal immigrant from Colombia, who was a member of Romney's church. Romney met Saenz through the church.
According to the Globe article, Community Lawn Service with a Heart was rife with illegal aliens, at least one of whom had been employed for ten years. There was a network through the illegal alien Guatemalan community supplied the company with workers.
After receiving notice of the situation, Romney spokesman, Eric Fehrnstrom, said the governor was looking into the situation. Romney fired the landscaping company a year later, on December 4, 2007.
During Romney's tenure as governor, Community Lawn Service also provided landscaping services for the Massachusetts Port Authority and at least one public school. I am unaware of any allegations that Romney influenced those contracts.
Sorry. I used the View Replies function to see the responses to Tennessee Nana’s post, which I thought inaccurately presented the ‘illegal landscapers’ situation vis-a-vis Romney. I replied to that before reading the zillion other responses that didn’t link to the original post.
You did a good job of starting to flesh out how deep Romney was with the illegals.
I was waiting for blowback before I went all 2008, on the posters who don’t know the depth of this story.
If your post 222 and post 171 isn’t enough, we can keep posting more of what was revealed in that 2008 cycle.
