The bizarre double life of conservative congressional hopeful Jake Rush (FL)

Jake Rush, Under the Surface

What the slick video does not mention is that Rush – as “Chazz Darling,” “Staas van der Winst” and a host of other roles – was a long-time member of the Mind’s Eye Society, otherwise known as “Camarilla.”

Mind’s Eye, or MES, is a nationwide community of gothic-punk role-players who come together to take on personas of vampires and other supernatural beings (known as Kindred), dealing with night-to-night struggles “against their own bestial natures, hunters, and each other.”

MES has a number of different sects, with names such as Vampire: The Requiem; Vampire: The Masquerade; Changeling: The Lost; Geist the Sin Eaters; New World of Darkness and Werewolf the Forsaken, among others.

Using various “domains” — through both table games and “live action”— Rush participated as dozens of “characters,” with names like Darling, van de Winst, Johan Gambrys, Zane Daily, The Kriesler, Archbishop Kettering and more.

Not a Trivial Enterprise

MES, extremely trademarked and organized, is by no means a trivial enterprise. It is a highly regimented association of like-minded people, complete with its own rituals and performances.

The governing body not only has elected officers, a Board of Directors and someone called a “national storyteller,” but they conduct monthly meetings, hold trade shows, and present an annual international convention, which in 2014 is on April 9-13 in San Antonio, Texas.

Rush, as a member of the “Kindred of Gainesville,” is not some teenager playing Dungeons and Dragons in his mom’s basement. This is a game for adults, with adult themes.

The CD 3 hopeful remained for years as a mid-level participant, active as late as last year. Rush reached the level of “Regional Storyteller,” and was listed as a founding member of the Gainesville “Cam chapter,”

If so I always knew the GOPe were Vampires...

He isn’t posting selfies in his underwear to unwilling females like Anthony Weiner, is he?

If it isn’t a terrorist website, and no one is advocating murder, fraud, rape or another crime, and he doesn’t visit the site on work time, whose business is it anyway?

Valid enough points, but he’s running against at Tea Party-supported candidate whom I support, so I wanted to see his opponent win anyway.

If there ever was a better example of “Yellow Journalism” and “Did not do the research” this article is it.

Reminds me of the one Republican Candidate that was BLASTED by the MSN for being a Civil War Reenactment memeber on the weekends and they only showed pictures of him in his Southern Military Costume despite the Fact he would play BOTH north and south for re-enactments...

Say it isn’t so-there are several neighbors and friends out here who belong to a historical re-enactment group as a hobby-and they are (shudder)-rednecks, too-I’m sure they are worthy of stoning at the very least...

I am sure it does. Funereal, joyless, zero imagination clones are the way forward with the Geriatric Old Plotters. Look at the preferred candidate ‘type’: Nixon, Ford, Dole, McCain, Romney.

Mortician and hall monitor types only. Sorry.

Hmmm....

Maybe... MAYBE! A witch hunter? An Inquisitor? A female Solomon Kane? Think about it. It may be your only way to achieve both objectives. Or go TEA partyish and opt for counter culture Joan of Arc. But avoid barbecues if you do. Those are my suggestions.

I can say "it's his private life", because it is.

However, if I were to post photos from his Camarilla page, people would get a touch squeamish around here - and we'd think former Congressman David Wu in his tiger suit was perfectly normal.
