A new analysis finds that many people who signed up for a Covered California health insurance exchange plan are likely to drop the coverage for a good reason: They found insurance elsewhere.
Researchers at the U.C. Berkeley Labor Center released estimates Wednesday showing that about 20 percent of Covered California enrollees are expected to leave the program because they found a job that offers health insurance. Another 20 percent will see their incomes fall and become eligible for Medi-Cal, the states insurance program for people who are low income.
According to the report between 53 and 58 percent of Covered California enrollees are expected to stay in a Covered California plan for 12 months.

Well if that is the case, shouldn’t they be transferred out of the “Didn’t Pay” column???
Who is keeping track of the data in this database and verifying its integrity?
Oh that’s right. Government employees are. ‘Nough said.
They are dreaming about those proposed reasons, especially in California.
Government employees who have lots of incentives to *lie* about what they see.
U.C. Berkeley Labor Center is a left of center, radical, liberal group that doesn’t produce credible research. Any results coming out of there is subject to fudging and overlooked considerations. Take it with a grain of salt.
Calif unemployment rate is 8$ and has been high for awhile
I cam calling BS that all of a sudden 20% of those who signed up for obamacare magically got employed
I do believe however that 20% found a way to get Medicaid and have taxpyers pay it all for them
Obama and his dedicated Marxists have so disemboweled the medical system in this country that it may be a generation before it ever gets back into decent operation. Maybe never.
We need a private agency ala the Pinkertons (or, for that matter, the fictional IMF) that works in the shadows policing the government. The government at all levels is willfully terrible at policing itself.
Would make a hell of a good TV series, too ... :)
No its like “We thought this was like the 0bummer phone and was free for signin up”
“Ain’t got time for Dis”!
Obama fanatics will do ANYTHING to support their feearful leader. INCLUDING posting thousands of fake “sign ups” to make it appear the program was working.
That is likely true
Plus some will pay 1 month and get 3 mons medical care that WE will pay for
I’ve had that unsettling experience of an online retailer emailing to remind me that I’d left some merchandise in my shopping cart or bag, but if they were Uncle Sam, they’d have written to congratulate me on signing up for the shoes or whatever items I had left behind. Then they’d book me as a sale in their accounting department.
Have no clue where my doctor got his numbers but he recently told me that 90 something percent of CoveredCa signups only paid their first mnths premium.....nothing more.
I don't know about "magically" but it would seem rational that people who discover the narrow choices and costs of Covered Cal will work harder to get a job and let the employer take care of the insurance issue.
What a crock this travesty has become. Toss it out completely!
This will be traducer rigged, watch for the coming in your face “0% down no payments until....”
All for crony so called ‘insurance” and the bailout “banking” where all the cronys “coil” had their MBS and holding now so called “instruments.”
“Government employees who have lots of incentives to *lie* about what they see.”
I don’t know that it’s lying so much as it is that they can’t multi-task. You see the primary mission is to show the biggest possible number of “enrollments”. To do that you have to ignore a whole bunch of factors including the huge percentage that don’t pay their first premium, and the other percentage that fail to pay their subsequent premiums.
The fact that they can’t track any of those extra factors is by design.
Now if by some miracle Obamacare became a functioning system going forward, you can bet your fanny that the IRS will be able to tell you all about those in the non-payment category.

I'm a pretty simple guy, I guess, because to me that's lying. Fudging numbers is lying, no matter how much they dress it up with gobbledegook, no matter how "good" the intentions. That they do it on purpose just pi$$es me off even more.

100% true. Yep. Hail Yeah.
Explain why someone who is NOT working and therefore would qualify for Medicaid would go out and get a job just to have employer paid insurance?
These people already had paid insurance. Medicaid.
why would you think people without jobs would have to pay for insurance?
If they really are going to draw down unemployment (which remains to be seen), many of these people are going to gravitate toward working again i.e. employer provided healthcare.
