My father served during the Korean War. His father died when he was 13 and he has the sole bread winner, hence never was assigned overseas. He use to ride shotgun in the truck on ammo runs (in the Washington DC area) with a loaded 45 pistol. Once he threatened the driver with it, the driver had “a date with a hot tomato” and was in a hurry.
Such sounds like a 1,000 years ago now.
.45 or hot tomato? No contest, .45 wins every time. My Dad, a WW2 guy, died when I was 16. I’m 62 now and still miss him.
