OK, that’s something anyway. I disagree only with the first part. They should not receive any kind of legal status, in my opinion. I don’t favor deportation of people who have committed no other crime. Let them stay. Shadows, shmadows. But for Pete’s sake let’s not let any more in.

I’d like to know all the reasons the pols favor legal status for these people. I know one is low-wage workers so the fat cats can become fatter. Other reasons may have to do with keeping track of them. Our government loves keeping track of everyone.

The Democrats are after voters. The Republicans are after cheap labor.

So you favor ignoring the laws governing deportation? And the vast majority of them have committed other crimes like identity theft, using phony SSNs, working illegally, tax evasion, etc. If we allow those who enter illegally to stay here, why have a border or any enforcement mechanisms.

Do you know of any other country in the world that will not deport those who illegally enter it?

Given the current state of American politics, my hunch says "vote-pandering" is first on the list.
