Oh don’t be silly. The Federal Government issues unique SSN’s to individuals and keeps excellent records to that effect.
In your example of illegals securing forged cards, let’s say they try to vote using that number. It either won’t be in the official system or it will come up with a different name, address, photo ID, etc., and the illegal foolish enough to try to vote using that number could easily be apprehended.
By the way, I have similar dog tags. They are what convinced me that the government had no intention of adhering to the original principle that the numbers were not to be used for other purposes of identification. However, that doesn’t mean that the database is corrupt. It’s probably the one thing the government has a decent handle on, in fact.
Under my proposal voting in different states or precincts within a state would be easily detected. ID cards offer no such protection. They simply ensure that the person voting is who he says he is.
