Thanks to younger Americans delaying having children and an exceptionally large group of Americans reaching mortality, the gap between births and deaths in the U.S. is the smallest its been in nearly four decades, according to data released Thursday by the U.S. Census.

I see no evidence of any upturn in fertility, and deaths continue to grow, says Kenneth Johnson, senior demographer at the University of New Hampshires Carsey Institute.
According to the Census, there were 2,541,000 deaths between July 2012 and July 2013, the most on record in one year.

The demographic projections show no growth in the Americas, Europe and Russia. By 2100 Asia will grow from 4 bil to 5 bil while Africa will grow from 1 bil to 4 bil.
