Counter-sue for the cost of the bullets
Better yet…when a criminal in your family is caught or killed committing a crime, you should have to pay restitution to the party said criminal was victimizing. Maybe if these lousy “parents” had some skin in the game, they would actually pay attention to what their spawn was doing and who his friends were.
Two things, if they lose they will not have to pay the other party's court costs, and they probably would not have the money to pay them if they were responsible for the costs.
If they manage to sue, they should lose, end up paying all the court and legal costs, and spend the next twenty five years on a chain gang.
The families of the criminals likely have no money to take. Justice would be the scum lawyer losing everything he has and the parents being billed the cost of the bullet.
