March 28 (UPI) -- Young U.S. voters have become more likely to identify with the Democratic Party since 2006, a Gallup Poll said Friday.
Gallup said the movement is fueled partly by increasing racial and ethnic diversity. But the poll found whites between the ages of 18 and 29 have also shifted to the Democrats in recent years.

Shocking. Equally astounding is that the overly emotional and people who generally "feel" without "thinking" also align with Democrats. Oh and those whose intelligence is limited to bumper sticker mentality.

What is the big surprise here? Have you seen the average age of the people at a Republican event. Not even the AARP would bother with the mailing list - it would have started mailing to them decades ago. Even the Young Republican groups are pushing 40.

This is the real reason the voting age was dropped to 18 in 1965 (during the presidency of Lyndon Johnson, with both houses of Congress in Democrat hands).

As I generally tell adult liberals, if most 11-year olds could vote, you would have something in common.

Their mental abilities are still evolving so you could consider them infantile in many respects until the realize as they get older that they are paying thru the nose for the agenda they once supported.

I guess this is literally what you mean by a “no-brainer”. Critical thinking is a commodity in growing scarcity. And nothing is being done to stem or reverse this tendency.
We expect the young to experiment and defy conventional wisdom. Who knew it could continue into middle age and beyond?

This was the headline right below the article: Poll: Whites trending more Republican. Nevetheless, it all comes down to racial lines. So who’s calling someone racist again? Oh yes, its’ whitey, always whitey...

The 26th Amendment was adopted in 1971 during the presidency of Richard M. Nixon.

This is the real reason the voting age was dropped to 18 in 1965 (during the presidency of Lyndon Johnson, with both houses of Congress in Democrat hands). Actually it happened on March 1971, Nixon was president, the Vietnam war, and the draft, and protests were raging........
Nixon won 52% of the under 30 vote, the democrats won 46%.
