People should be aware, too, that Yellowstone National Park has about 1,000 earthquakes a year there. At least that’s what the Ranger told us.
The more the better. It is a bad thing when the earthquakes stop.
At least that many. Does anyone remember the big 7.5 magnitude 1959 Yellowstone quake that killed at least 28 people in a landslide that dammed a river and created a new lake? The whole region's a seismic crapshoot, the continuation of a geologic process that began millions of years ago with creation of what's called the Yellowstone Hot Spot.
That’s about one every eight hours, 45 minutes and 36 seconds. Two and three quarter earthquakes per day.
At least thats what the Ranger told us.
