If I remember right, Ebola has a recorded outbreak of an airborne strain right here in the U.S. and the strain was named after the town were it was identified, Ebola Reston.
Reston, Virginia was home to a strain that luckily, was only dangerous to simians, but it was airborne, so its not beyond the realm of possibility for a strain to develop that harmful to humans.
You are absolutely correct. A Ft. Detrick team deployed quietly to assess and burn the dead animals at the Reston quarantine facility. The CDC and HWO have classified three strains of Ebola; Ebola Marburg (Germany), Ebola Reston (Va, only airborne strain), and Ebola Zaire (most commonly seen). A good book on the subject is “The Hot Zone” for anyone interested in the subject.
