Ironic.

The American Humanist Association is trying to establish Godlessness as the county religion.

A bit off topic, but read what my daughter posted on Facebook last night.

So, today in my Sign Language class, the teacher taught us how to sign The Pledge of Allegiance, and she had to explain that neither she, nor the school was trying to force any religions viewpoint on the students, she was just using it as an example for the concept we were learning. That made me sad, that she even had to say that in a room of adult American citizens. But then, after class, a bunch of the students started talking about when they “had” to say the Pledge in their high schools, “The school had to give us the opportunity to say it if we wanted to, I hated it.” “We had to say it everyday, I didn’t know what it meant, I just said it. If I’d known what it meant I would NEVER have said it.”
That, made me mad!
Now, I can understand why they might not want to admit to following God (that’s a different argument altogether) but to not want to pledge allegiance to your country? The fact that they are even allowed to choose NOT to recite it is reason enough! I wanted to ask them if they enjoyed the freedoms this country gives them, if they ever thought about the lives given to protect those freedoms, so that they could sit around in a warm classroom and complain about reciting a 30 second pledge?!
Seriously folks, if you hate it so much, why are you here?
