It doesn’t matter if they’re edible if people don’t want to fish for them. I doubt they would come anywhere near sustaining the 6 to 10 billion dollar sportfishing industry in Michigan.

If they’re like other carp, they’re okay if properly cleaned. There are some tutorials around the Web on how to clean them. Carp are also alright properly prepared and canned.

Is the fish edible? Yes, but lots of small bones. Best smoked or canned, so I've heard. Hey, can them as part of the EBT crowd's permitted food allowance!
