Self insurance works for some notwithstanding it can be risky and is a crapshoot.

I estimate that I saved, “on average”, between 1971 and 2013, in constant dollars, approximately 300-400 per month and that is likely overly conservative as my insurance the last few years would have cost me twice as much, or 600-800.

But, at say $350.00 per month that calculates to $180,600 that did not go to support an insurance company’s G650. (Worlds hottest/fastest private passenger jet)
