CNN BREAKING: Malaysian Prime Minister holding unexpected 10a ET news conference #MH370
Malaysian Defense Min says Malaysian Prime Minister Razak will hold a presser on what he called new developments at 10aET #MH370
Missing plane family members tell CNN they have been called to a 9:30a meeting, before the 10a ET news conference #MH370. Something is up.
Look for “CTCAM” tonight to be “busy”.
“...one of the few facts that does not appear to be in dispute is that the Rolls-Royce engines on the Boeing 777 had an engine monitoring system.”
The aircraft data system receives data from the engines. It is analyzed and provided to the aircraft crew and groundcrew via the AIRCRAFT ACARS system.
One doesn't achieve McInerney's position (in the decades he did, at least) by being a crack-pot or being one given to rash conjecture. I believe he built up his list of good sources through an enviable process. I will continue believing that until proven otherwise, but not in the absence of being proven otherwise.
McInerney may be wrong, and if so, it will hurt his credibility. He may have been lied-to. If so, I will have to doubt he was easily duped.
I see in Miteybad and bigdaddy45's comments this unusual, repeated, unFreeperlike demand for disclosure of sources. Why would that be? Why do you wish to strip a high ranking military man of his sources?
It's Miteybad's conjecture that the general is wrong and cannot prove his earlier statements. I don't believe McInerney nor his sources necessarily owe us proof at this time. Certain things may need to be worked out before more information is disclosed. Hypothetically, if the general is right, would you not wish the perpetrators of such a heinous crime be foiled in their ends, where untimely disclosure of what you seek clearly has a high risk of thwarting the success of a retributive operation?
Miteybad cannot yet prove his assertion that MH370's passengers are under 12,000 feet of water, though none demand it of him, probably because he has no credibility anyway.
For my part, I'll decide a bit further down the road whether McInerney's reputation should be trashed as Miteybad suggests, or whether he may come out of this episode "smelling" much better than Miteybad.

Considering the nonsense that was passed off by “tptb” regarding TWA800, (blaming a spark in the empty center fuel tank, instead of missiles witnessed by hundreds of people) there is no longer any reason to trust “tptb”, particularly the FBI, the news media, and any official government statement.
But, until General McInerny (historically a reliable source) tells me that the Pakistan theory is no longer “operative”, I will remain suspicious of anything said by the news media and the governments, and their agencies.
I will also distrust Boeing, and the various folks operating the satellites, and those doing the “brand new, never done before” calculations.
Too many corporations, governments, and the entire travel industry have multiple reasons for covering up whatever happened to mh370.
They can’t afford to lose the trust, and the money, of the flying public.
However, you can’t lie to people forever. Sooner or later, trust is lost, and there are consequences.
And, it is possible for some posting here to carry water for all the above interested parties, in an effort to sell the story.
Any of you who have “netflix” might want to watch “TWA: Flight 800” - a very good documentary (91 minutes) about the facts ignored by the FBI and all the usual .gov sources.
Then, having watched it, consider the crazy nonsense being spouted by “officials” these past few weeks regarding mh 730.
There IS a lot about this flight that looks odd. I wonder if there was a fight for control of the plane. Maybe the guys from Iran with the false passports did play an active roll. Or maybe not. In any case, the “southern path” does look like someone programmed the auto pilot to maybe fly to Iran or somewhere nearby, but messed up the latitude from north to south. Yes, I know there are enough conspiracy theories out there, just thought I'd throw out one more. And it IS an explanation...
I’m not saying his reputation should be tarnished just that it would fit the MO of this administration trying to tarnish it so when he releases information later they can point the finger.
Feeding or having an agent feed him false information knowing he was discussing it on FOX served what purpose if not that ?
As we know China was late to the theory that the plane went down near Australia. I think they just didn't want to be bothered or knew it wasn't true. Now that it's become either the accepted story or is actually true, they're steaming ahead with ships to save face and it wouldn't surprise me if the black box weren't found soon by the UK, US or Australia, they'll claim to
have found it. Either somehow not working or backing up their story to a T.
I don't think the Chinese liked how easily their radar pics near Malaysia were debunked. Conspiracy, terrorism or accident I think they know more then they say. (We probably do too but motive for disinformation is different.)
Also, I keep hearing China is concerned because there were so many Chinese nationals. Well China has no problem killing it's unwanted nationals, either.
Can someone explain how — if there was a catastrophic mechanical failure, an explosion or a fire — did the plane continue to fly for several hours after that?
Can someone explain how if there was a catastrophic mechanical failure, an explosion or a fire did the plane continue to fly for several hours after that?
Only a global warming scientist could explain it.
The way the Malaysian Govt has handled this, I wouldn’t step foot in that country or take one of their planes if you paid me a million dollars..sending a text message to family members telling them “Yeah we think your family members are dead” was one of the most distasteful things I have ever seen..you could tell by that press conference the PM did that he just wants everyone to go home and “Move on” reminds me of Benghazi, calling it a “Phony Scandal” I can see that happening here..nothing to see here, moving on..even though the Govt had this info from INMARSAT for more than a week they still searched the China Sea pretending it could somehow be there..now all of a sudden “Yeah its in the Indian Ocean” and tell me, how does a plane flying at 12,000 feet burning more fuel end up that far south? I think now they are saying this because they feel safe enough to say that the plane is down south because all of the evidence of THEIR wrongdoing is destroyed..wouldn’t be surprised if they brought down the plane themselves
Either they really have no idea or they’re lying through their teeth. I think it’s the later. I think they know exactly what happened.
They had to come up with a story to get those relatives out of the hotel.
My thinking it was freakish series of events from a combo of possible criminal intent(less likely by the day if the info is true) leading to and/or just a tragic failure of the system(s) of the plane(possibly cascading series). I hope my guessing make some sense.
I think you are sadly right about the reason.
Just heard: Search(for the wreckage of MH370)suspended due to weather. Did I hear that right...?
It makes perfect sense. Aircraft have a way of killing you if you make too many errors. Hopefully they will find the black boxes before the batteries die.

Although Cyclone Gillian is currently well north of the search area, experts are keeping an on eye on it as it moves through the Indian Ocean.
Crews searching for the missing plane have already had to contend with fog as they search an area of the Indian Ocean nicknamed the "Roaring Forties" for its rough waters.
While Chinese and Australian satellites have picked up possible debris from the plane, searchers in the air have yet to find these objects and confirm they are connected to missing Flight MH 370. What was believed to be a wooden pallet that could have come from the jet was seen by one plane Sunday, but another search plane sent to photograph it could not locate the pallet.
ABC News aviation expert and former Marine Corps pilot Steve Ganyard said even if the storm doesn't hit the search area head on, it can still affect the search effort since crew members may have difficulty identifying debris in whitecap waves churned up by a faraway storm.
Additionally if there is debris from the plane in the ocean, a large storm could displace it, making it almost impossible for investigators to trace the debris to a crash site as they have done in earlier investigations.
