I have found it hard to believe that the plane has crashed.

Did anyone ever succinctly state whether the ELTs could be switched off?

If activated, the ELT signal would be read by satellite. Nobody has indicated the ELT signal was noticed.

No signal, no crash.

Can’t be turned off.

Crash and immediate sinking would block the signal.
