The "Swiss Army Knife" bit is almost certainly bogus. The so-called "modern journalists" who did the original article felt they had to have a knife photo -- so, they used a Getty Images stock photo (prohibited on FR) of a young kid holding a SAN -- and using it wrong (cutting toward himself).

If Wiser was seriously into EMT training, he probably had one of these
