Another ridiculous regulation coming down from the Obama administration, basically telling federal contractors if they want to keep getting federal contracts then they must ensure that 7% of their workforce have a disability, which means these companies will be required to ask about this when hiring.
WSJ U.S. regulations are coming into effect next week that will require federal contractors to ask their employees if they have a disability, the WSJ reports. A group of employers that includes Boeing Co., Dell Inc. and AT&T Inc., among some 40,000 others, will be compelled to ask about employees disabilities for the first time. Those that dont employ a minimum of 7% disabled workers, or cant prove they are taking steps to achieve that goal, could face penalties and, in the most extreme cases, the loss of their contracts, according to a government official.
The target applies to contractors with 50 or more employees or more than $50,000 in government work. The Labor Department issued the rules as part of an effort to reduce the high jobless rate among people with disabilities; a similar initiative calls for an 8% hiring target for military veterans. Government officials say the targets are aspirational and not rigid quotas. The legislation will affect nearly a quarter of the U.S. workforce, but employees arent required to disclose their specific impairment.
Stuart Varney wonders what about the American Disabilities Act, which prohibits employers from asking if someone has a disability. Will they now be taken to court for asking even though they are mandated to ask? Varney says these companies will be damned if they do and damned if they dont.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
This is what happens when you elect an idiot as president.
Most people on disability are welfare cheats getting disability payments for “mental disability”
Does twitching, convulsing and/or barfing at the mention of Brocko Bama’s name constitute a “disability”? If so, I’m golden.
Has the administration defined ‘disabled’?
Maybe ‘disabled’ will be defined as ‘LIV’.
Assuming someone is TRULY disabled, it would be more cost effective for them to stay home and get a monthly check, rather than force unworkable workplace accommodations/modifications upon employers.
Of course, the million dollar question is now that they’re forcing contractors to hire disabled people, are they going to force the disabled to work for them?
Is 7% of the work force disabled? What is the unemployment rate? Are they all disabled?
On disability vs disabled, there is a difference. People on disability generally aren’t working or looking for work.
Disabled people like myself work pretty dang hard.
This is how you reward your friends and punish your enemies. Those who make large contributions to your campaigns, etc, and toe the political line will get a pass (the DOJ will "refuse to prosecute").
Companies who don't kowtow to the zero king will be viciously prosecuted beyond the extent of the law (the Left's minion-bots will be driven to march in protest in front of your business, "experts" will go on as many talk shows as possible and demonize you and yours). And I haven't even mentioned Obammy's media!
Wait... isn't that what the Left is doing now? I guess this is just a way to legitimize them.
Blind crane operators wanted.
This will be easy. Just like the exemption from the Obamacare mandate where you just have to say I had a problem signing up, just state that you are disabled and bingo no proof needed you are disabled.
so all big obama donors wil be given a pass if they can’t met the 7%. however if the admin doesn’t like you they can impose the penalties.
Here is the DOL rule: http://www.dol.gov/ofccp/regs/compliance/vevraa.htm
Some of the little ditties in that rule:
Hiring benchmarks: The Final Rule requires that contractors establish annual hiring benchmarks for protected veterans. Contractors must use one of two methods to establish their benchmarks. Contractors may choose to establish a benchmark equal to the national percentage of veterans in the civilian labor force, which will be published and updated annually by OFCCP. Alternatively, contractors may establish their own benchmarks using certain data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) and Veterans Employment and Training Service/Employment and Training Administration (VETS/ETA) that will be also be published by OFCCP, as well other factors that reflect the contractors unique hiring circumstances. The data will be posted in the Benchmark Database (coming soon).
Data collection: The Final Rule requires that contractors document and update annually several quantitative comparisons for the number of veterans who apply for jobs and the number of veterans they hire. Having this data will assist contractors in measuring the effectiveness of their outreach and recruitment efforts. The data must be maintained for three years to be used to spot trends.
Just what we need...yet more FEDGOV social engineering.
Well then, I be impaired, and that will be expressed in bold font on my resume.
“Most people on disability are welfare cheats getting disability payments for mental disability”
Really? My disability came from protecting your right to say that.
My daughter had to quit work because of seriously debilitating migraines that brought on vertigo. I wonder if she can make Boeing hire her?
What? Most people who are still working and trying to work are getting disability payments for a mental disability?
Pretty easy to fulfill ... “Are you or have you ever been a Democrat?” .... yes, check the mentally challenged box.
The Feral Government has defined so many conditions as disabilities that most businesses are probably already beyond the 7% mark.
They just won’t know it until people are forced to declare their illnesses, addictions, weaknesses and bad habits.
