Does anybody remember a Republican convention where someone took a Ronald Reagan signed and sat on it? He didn’t become the nominee that year. They said he was too radical. And Jimmy Carter became the president. At least that’s the way I see it.

How good is your memory?

That was the year that Ayn Rand was doing everything she could to keep Reagan out of the White House, she despised his conservatism and supported the social liberal Ford, in 1980 the libertarians had their greatest election ever, trying to defeat Reagan.

Ayn Rand on the 1976 GOP race: ""I urge you, as emphatically as I can, not to support the candidacy of Ronald Reagan. I urge you not to work for or advocate his nomination, and not to vote for him."" she also would not vote for, or support him in 1980.
