My gut is telling me those are cargo containers. Thousands of them floating in the world’s seas, that have fallen off ships.
(ALWAYS buy cargo insurance!)

Had a friend hit one in his boat off Monterey a few years ago. He never saw it, and almost didn’t survive the collision, let alone in the waters. Lucky for him another boater saw it happen.

Of course, the military may not have released their highest quality images.

Standard length of a shipping container is 40 feet. The largest available for ships are 45 feet. Even rail containers are only 53 feet long at most.
