A senior Russian diplomat says Moscow may change its stance in the Iranian nuclear talks amid tensions with the West.
Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov was quoted Wednesday as saying by the Interfax news agency that Russia didnt want to use the Iranian nuclear talks to raise stakes, but may have to do so in response to the actions by the United States and the European Union.
The statement is the most serious threat of retaliation by Moscow after the U.S. and the EU announced sanctions against Russia over the Ukrainian crisis.

Bush’s fault.
I posted on another thread regarding the same subject that it looks like it’s coming down to neo-Eurasianist ideology as the guiding impetus to Russian policy.
You need to understand neo-Eurasianism, which seems to be, more or less, the guiding philosophy behind what were seeing now.
As an example:
-The book (The Foundations of Geopolitics) stresses the continental Russian-Islamic alliance which lies at the foundation of anti-Atlanticist strategy. The alliance is based on the traditional character of Russian and Islamic civilization.
-Iran is a key ally. The book uses the term Moscow-Tehran axis.
-Armenia has a special role and will serve as a strategic base and it is necessary to create the [subsidiary] axis Moscow-Erevan-Teheran. Armenians are an Aryan people ... [like] the Iranians and the Kurds.
-Azerbaijan could be split up or given to Iran.
-Georgia should be dismembered. Abkhazia and United Ossetia (which includes Georgias South Ossetia) will be incorporated into Russia. Georgias independent policies are unacceptable.
Amongst other things. (I should note that ‘Foundations of Geopolitics’ was written before Erdogan and the AKP assumed power in Turkey, so it’s possible that ideas regarding Turkey may have altered somewhat. They seem to be siding with the Eurasianists; I tend to ignore Erdogan, and pay more attention to the Turkish Foreign Minister.)
The Foundations of Geopolitics: The Geopolitical Future of Russia is a geopolitical book by Alexander Dugin. The book has had a large influence within the Russian military, police, and statist foreign policy elites and is used as a textbook in the General Staff Academy of Russian military.
I seriously believe that Dugins ideas - and those of the neo-Eurasianists - are the guiding ideology of Russia.

This is all part of the plan: Let Putin arm Iran to attack Israel.
Obama: US will not take military action in Ukraine.

Above all, we should acknowledge that the collapse of the Soviet Union was a major geopolitical disaster of the Century. As for the Russian nation, it became a genuine drama. Tens of millions of our co-citizens and compatriots found themselves outside Russian territory. Moreover, the epidemic of disintegration infected Russia itself (Vladimir Putin, Annual Address to the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, April 25, 2005).

Iran? A trivial matter compared to the right of Ukranian nationals in the Crimea. What’s a few nuclear bombs and an arms race in the Middle East, when stacked up against two nations with nearly identical languages having another sandbox fight. Now that’s series./s
Agree that Putin is/has been a threat to the US - Russia will ALWAYS be a threat. However, I believe he is less of a threat than the dimwit and his advisers (esp. VJ) that currently occupy the White House. With this current situation in the Ukraine, and Obama’s childish remarks and behavior toward Putin in the past year, he (Obama) is more apt to provoke Putin, cause irreparable harm and/or bring us to the brink with some ego-driven attempt to look like “da man”. Zero is an idiot, and the whole world knows it. Obama has brought our country’s morale down, reduced our military/defense to bare minimum, and made us sitting ducks. Question is, who will be willing to jump in first and take advantage of it when Zero puts his foot in his big mouth. Was Putin as much of a threat before Obama too charge? Don’t think so.
Good video. Maranatha.
Well put.
is that the red horse? He has certainly has been handed a sword in recent days :-)
Any nation that does not go nuclear right now would be a nation of IDIOTS. If my country does not have nukes, I would be demanding nukes
Look at Ukraine — was a nuclear superpower once, but now it cannot even stop an invasion. Its “allies” are as impotent as itself, so no help from outside either.
Iran is run by lunatics, but not by suicidal lunatics. A nuclear armed Iran will not be invaded by anyone, not even Israel. Iran would be foolish to not go nuclear at this point.
Yeah, well, you asked.
Neither. Now get back to your war drums.
OBAMA is the MAN who is making Irans nuclear bomb a reality.
