I wholeheartedly agree with your comment. Crimea is largely Russian.
A couple of years ago, a National Geographic article featured Crimea and its people. I pulled out this issue and actually took to the time to read it. Very compelling case for them to rejoin Russia. One interviewed Crimean lady said of Kruschev when he “gave away” Crimea, “He had roaches in his head!!!”
Perhaps the vote wasn’t as lopsided as it appeared, but I’m convinced that it was largely majority for secession. Polls bore this out. The Crimeans have contempt for Ukraine like we “fly-overs” have contempt for the Northeastern US Communist states.
