Oh, and over these little babies...My sister in law sent me a box of them for Christmas. I'm not a regular whisky drinker (beer is fluid, carbohydrate and pain killer all in one, and suffices as a recovery drink after chasing those 40-50 year old kids up and down the b'ball court) but not diluting the spirits seems like a good thing.

A few drops of water helps unlock the flavor in bourbon (and whiskey ...)
But not enough to dilute the proof.

Yep. For me the place to keep a bottle of Jack was in the freezer, next to a frozen glass. For some reason I just liked how small sips would sting when it was that cold. :)
Now don’t get me wrong.... I wouldn’t defile it with ice. I just liked cold whiskey in a cold glass.

The only whiskey worth drinking is Makers Mark.If you like a complete lack of character. It's boring compared to a lot of others in the same price range.

20 year old Pappy Van Winkle.....periodAt 130 bucks a bottle and a waiting list you're lucky to get on? It must be nice to be the king.
Lately I'm enjoying Buffalo Trace, and a big 1.75 liter bottle is 39 bucks at BevMo. A steal.

I meant re: Maker’s Mark - the before, during, or after diluting their fine swill just to make it cheaper?
(Snarky way of saying I’ll stick with something known for its consistency.)

I have been drinking this for about 25 years and always found it consistent. I have bought it in 3-4 different states. Are you sure that who ever is pouring it for you is actually giving you MM?

A few months back, MM announced costs & demand were going up so they reduced the alcohol percentage to keep the price consistent, and justified/observed that some people favored competitors’ wares because of their lower proof. The outcry was enormous, and after making the diluted formula for a while decided to reverse course. Some of us took our $$$ elsewhere for want of consistency.

A few drops of water helps unlock the flavor in bourbon (and whiskey ...) Depends upon the purity of the water. Our local tap is pretty good, but at my office a few miles away it is not so good.
