I’ve had FIVE rubella boosters in the space of about 15 years. Had ZERO titer when tested approximately 1 year after the latest one.
How many boosters would you have me get?
In some people they wear off after a year. Others it’s 2 or 3 or 5 or 10 years. Titers aren’t inexpensive medical procedures. Would you have every single person get a booster of every single vaccine yearly? You just THINK healthcare overhead costs are high now...
The majority of people build a long-lasting immunity after the recommended vaccinations. A small number of people have a quirky immune system that will not respond to vaccinations. Those people are also likely to get very serious, possibly fatal, disease if they are ever exposed to the live virus or bacteria, because the same quirk that prevents them from becoming immune after vaccination also prevents them from fighting off the disease effectively. It is not just for babies, but also for people whose immune systems fail to respond to vaccines that we really push for a herd immunity level of vaccination.
If our health care systems were saner, such issues would get worked out by the doctors and the markets. I’d gladly get a booster each year at my own expense if I knew I was high risk. People don’t complain that their headache pills don’t last their whole lives.
It sounds to me that a large dose of self righteousness and ingratitude is manifesting in the anti-vaccine people, and it is seen in how vigorously they damn the very scientists, flawed as they may be, which have made living to an old age very commonplace today.
