Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was an obsessive supporter of Malaysias opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. And hours before the doomed flight left Kuala Lumpur, Shah attended a controversial trial in which Ibrahim was jailed for five years.
It was against this background that, seven hours later, he took control of a Boeing 777-200 bound for Beijing and carrying 238 passengers and crew.
But this newspaper can reveal that investigators had already spent much of last week examining two laptops removed from Shahs home.
One laptop taken away is thought to contain data from the flight simulator while a second contained little information. Zaharies personal laptop was not found, and is thought to have been with him in the cockpit of the plane, the source said.
Colleagues made it clear to us that he was someone who held strong political beliefs and was strident in his support for Anwar Ibrahim, another investigation source said. We were told by one colleague he was obsessed with politics.
Zaharie is believed to be separated or divorced from his wife although they share the same house.
A satellite was able to pick up a ping from the plane until 08:11 local time, more than seven hours after it lost radar contact, although it was unable to give a precise location.
Mr Razak went on to say that based on this new data, investigators have determined the planes last communication with a satellite was in one of two possible corridors north from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan through to northern Thailand, and south from Indonesia to the southern Indian Ocean.

I think Boeing is sweating right about now.
ACARS can be sent both via VHF radio and satellite - but Malaysia Airlines had not subscribed to the satellite version from London based provider Inmarsat.
Nevertheless, a satellite transmitter on the plane was pinging an Inmarsat satellite with empty data packets. And it is those that have allowed the plane’s position to be estimated on two tracks either side of the satellite.
Very interesting link. BTTT!
1) No information on the wife and kids, they are not at the house.
2)The point is complete evasion and disappearance. Why??
If there is no legal basis for charging the captain with piracy or any other crime because the blackboxes are not found.....the divorcing wife and kids can collect his life insurance.....
3)He is a lone wolf and they don’t play well with others because they are obsessed with absolute control of the operation.
Here’s a link to the Wiki entry on Ibrahim. Seems fairly level-headed for that part of the world.

Don’t know if it’s worth killing a plane-load of innocent people over.
Well, well well, what a lovely group
Here’s the flight manifest list of passengers:
There is a report from a Chinese newspaper that the wife and kids moved out the day before.
In this case it looks like political, not Muslim fanaticism.
AFAIK, Anwar Ibrahim, the ex-PM the pilot is/was a supporter of, is no more or less “muslim” than the current Malaysian PM.
He’s been sentenced to 5 years for sodomy, which even if an appeal is successful would put an end to his political career, which almost certainly is a trumped up, false charge.
satanic cult
Have you ever seen a airplane hanger? It fits inside a big one. Enough camo netting and that would probably work too. Can't just cover the airplane, but have to stretch it out in in a shape that doesn't look like an airplane. Many layers. Expensive, but a whole lot less than the plane is worth. Even on the used market.
But its highest value would come as a suicide bomber. Change some of the avionics and it could spoof air traffic control.
If that sounds familiar to you, it should...
You can actually SEE the inbreeding in that guy.
Muzzies are physically and mentally defective due to all the inbreeding.
Ah! For the first time things are starting to make some sense.
Thanks for that. I am an Aussie so I was unaware of that. I am not so sure that it would work the same here - proving one action wrong would not automatically mean the opposite action is correct - although most would see it at least as tacit approval.

Sorry - please remove previous post -wrong thread
I think he was the assistant pilot.
“Can You Trust Your Muslim Doctor?” was a billboard campaign some time ago.
Showed a Mrs. Bernstein or Mrs. Feldman with a very scared look on her face.
Got taken down quickly, IIRC.
