Captain Zaharie Ahmad Shah was an obsessive supporter of Malaysias opposition leader, Anwar Ibrahim. And hours before the doomed flight left Kuala Lumpur, Shah attended a controversial trial in which Ibrahim was jailed for five years.
It was against this background that, seven hours later, he took control of a Boeing 777-200 bound for Beijing and carrying 238 passengers and crew.
But this newspaper can reveal that investigators had already spent much of last week examining two laptops removed from Shahs home.
One laptop taken away is thought to contain data from the flight simulator while a second contained little information. Zaharies personal laptop was not found, and is thought to have been with him in the cockpit of the plane, the source said.
Colleagues made it clear to us that he was someone who held strong political beliefs and was strident in his support for Anwar Ibrahim, another investigation source said. We were told by one colleague he was obsessed with politics.
Zaharie is believed to be separated or divorced from his wife although they share the same house.
A satellite was able to pick up a ping from the plane until 08:11 local time, more than seven hours after it lost radar contact, although it was unable to give a precise location.
Mr Razak went on to say that based on this new data, investigators have determined the planes last communication with a satellite was in one of two possible corridors north from the border of Kazakhstan and Turkmenistan through to northern Thailand, and south from Indonesia to the southern Indian Ocean.

the ping is just a handshake that does not communicate position information
Did pilot hijack missing plane HIMSELF in anti-government protest?
This sure gives Muslim pilots a black eye. Unfortunate. /s
Was or IS (currently in a hiding place provided by George Soros)?
Post 2 is the radar range of the Air Traffic and military radar in the area.
YPCC is the Cocos Islands that have an 8,000 foot runway. They only receive an average of 1 flight per day and their radar was likely turned off for FL370.
The pilot would have known that and could have steered for the radar gap between Diego Garcia and Leartmonth and headed for the southern India Ocean.
This is the only explanation that well fits the flight time to 0811. The northern corridor would have put FL370 well over land and they would have been spotted by now.
So, I withdraw my theory of the pilot choosing to attack India, running out of fuel and ditching in the Bay of Bengal. FL370 had much more fuel and flight time than thought.
Peace, joy, kindness, and selflessness just seem to follow them wherever they go.
Sort of, the Immersat ping, by analysis reveals the range from the satellite. That’s how the arc was determined, see the link.

This is the ‘video offensive to Islam therefore Benghazi’ tack I’ve been waiting for someone to cough up.
If you’re a suicide bomber, you don’t choose targets 7 hours away that you have to run to like a Kentucky whiskey smuggler.
Here is a link to the Aussie military radar:

Laverton would have seen them as they operate 24/7. Overlaying the Laverton range again reveals a gap that FL370 could have slipped through.
My theory de jure is pilot anti-government political protest/government embarrassment, marriage relationship anger, and then suicide.
Hijacking per se is not the problem.
Flying it without being seen by massive standardized global overlapping ELINT is the problem, as well as where to park it.
IF the pilot did this, it wasn’t over a political snit. He must have been involved with others that included cloaking techies, and at least one nation-state. And that means this was long planned.
The pilot must be a leftist. If he was a conservative it would have been in the headline.
A few months ago I had a bit of an argument about allowing a Muslim to be your doctor.
This suspicion of the Muslim pilot simply reinforces my position.
It’s going to be way to easy to die under the care of a Muslim doctor.
How exactly can this plane hide if it did not crash?
Agreed, 7 hours of flight time would put FL370 well beyond any jihadist target in India. This was not Muslim terrorism but lone wolf political protest.
- Hoo boy - another lying creepy sleezebag Muzzie like Obama and Son .
And to spruce up your theory de jur, we could throw in a struggle in the cockpit with the co- pilot who wasn't ready to die. That's why the plane was all over the place. - tom
Brian Ross already checked, no tea party affiliation, he was devastated
