Love Dan, voted for Dan, contributed to Dan, but if the transponders were turned off how could they find another plane to crash?

Greetings Hot Lips from across the Potomac in our new house in McLean. We said FU Merryland!

” but if the transponders were turned off how could they find another plane to crash?”

The transponders provide no assistance in locating other aircraft. It transmits YOUR location to the receiving radar station.

Maybe because they turned off both transponders and radar equipment and they were hoping to spot another jumbo jet with the naked eye but didn’t and had to ditch the plane after 7 hours of searching? So happy to hear that you're in McLean, Clint! My aunt & uncle are planning to move there from Edgewater, MD over the summer.... they too are saying FU to Merryland... their son (my cousin) lives nearby in Vienna. Best to you, Mrs. S and Clint Jr.!
