What this article calls "absurd" is just speculation by ordinary folks.

A meteor strike, and a military takedown.

Get a lot of people to speculate on solving a problem and you'll get "brainstorming". Some ideas are clearly very unlikely, but the act of arguing against them produces other ideas.

You're right Izzy - it's why brainstorming works... and why CBS with their top-down authoritarian ways doesn't work.

CBS was also giving the 'not too subtle' message that the Internet can't be trusted because, " Look - here's a crackpot".... as if most citizens can't discern the difference between a meteor hitting a plane (highly unlikely) and a possible terrorist act (highly likely)

CBS is soooooo lame.
