There's been a total electronic failure. What if some hostile country flew up there and shot it down and then discovered their mistake and nobody wants to admit what happened? Have you heard that theory from anybody? Okay. Is my theory as good as anybody else's that you're hearing out there?

I believe I've read this here at FR and, as I recall, there were posts debunking it for technical reasons.

That woman was a bird-brain off of Art Bell —Rush was playing with her, but too polite to make it obvious to her.

SPACE-TIME CONTINUUM, HUH...?

The Rush I know wouldn’t have said that unless he was kidding.

If hijackers turned back to KL and the Malaysians HAD to shoot it down, would they ADMIT it?

I doubt that.

“”They fly over a bunch of unfriendly countries””

Rush should have told us what unfriendly countries those would be. Like he says, his theory is as good as any other guess out there.

I read a story years ago about a hijacked airplane and it did land somewhere else but I don’t remember much else about it. I don’t think they had fuel for takeoff again so perhaps it was to hold passengers for ransom..

"You better get out of our airspace! You better get down," and it's not doing that. And maybe they just shot it down.

But wouldn't they scramble jet fighters to go up and take a look first?

Like all of us, Rush is laboring under the lack of (and contradictory) info that the authorities have released.

There might have been an electrical mishap, and they attempted to turn around and fly back without navigational aids. The way they’re showing it now, it appears that a 180, or a near-180 was done, and then something like a sharp turn once they were back over Malaysia. They could have ended up completely disoriented.

I haven't followed this closely.

My first thought was the Payne Stewart crash.

Sudden decompression, then one of the pilots puts in a mysterious course change, then everybody’s unconscious and dying.

Can that happen to pilots in the cockpit of a Boeing passenger jet?

Decent theory, except it doesn’t explain the disabling of various transmitters.

What created the "Payne Stewart crash" wasn't "sudden decompression". It was "slow decompression". p> In the case of "sudden decompression", the oxygen masks drop and a recovery can be undertaken. In the case of a "slow decompression", everybody drifts off to sleep before they realize there's a problem.

The searching should IMHO focus on land. Especially places where it could land.

If they don’t find it, then at some point in the future... a month... a year... 5 years, this plane will return to the news. And it won’t be carrying passengers.

I say the Chinese just needed a New Boeing jet to discretely reverse engineer so they sent up some idiot in a J-8 like the one that crashed into our EP-3 some years back.

my theory is they didn’t make their payments and Lizard Lick Towing repossessed it, and are still flying around trying to figure out how to land it...

If they can do that now they can certainly take over a flight plan approved by the FAA with a stolen identity. Very Scary.

This mystery is hard to figure out. The purpose may be hidden in everything that went wrong.
