I wasn't familiar with the term "food swamps". I had to google it: Areas thick with fast-food joints and convenience stores.

To me, the term "food swamps" are much more important to understanding the poverty/obesity link than the term "food deserts".

I have the feeling that so-called “food deserts” coincide geographically with areas of high crime.
