McConnell is finished, wave good bye to the nice man
Examiner ^ | March 11, 2014 | AARON BLAKE

Mitch McConnell, the current minority leader in the Senate and GOP counterpart to Majority Leader Dingy Harry Reid, and senior senator from Kentucky, must be the stupidest politician in Washington D.C. right now. Facing a challenge in his own primary from TEA party oriented candidate Matt Bevin for being a RINO, McConnell would be wise to do anything but provoke an escalation of the political battle between RINOs like him and the more conservative TEA party supported candidates challenging them. McConnell the other day made a comment basically saying that all the RINOs like him that are being challenged in primaries by conservatives will defeat their more conservative challengers. What a stupid commment.

I suspect many conservatives around the country had made the defeat of RINO Lindsey Graham in South Carolina the highest priority for 2014. But I can imagine tens of thousands of TEA party and conservative activists reacting to McConnell's stupidity by writing checks to the campaign committee for Matt Bevin after having what the soon-to-be-retired senator from Kentucky said the other day.

Polls are showing that McConnell is in trouble against the expected Democrat nominee Alison Lundergran Grimes, and he's slipping in the polls for his primary battle against Matt Bevin. Either way, McConnell is finished, in the primary or in November. He's voted the RINO left-of-center line in Washington D.C. way too many times, and voters who elect Republicans are expecting them to go to Washington and represent our insterests and not those of the special interests and the ruling class of Washington D.C.

McConnell hasn't done that in his too many years in Washington, and now it's time for him retire or be retired. The voters in Kentucky will make sure it happens one way or the other.

TEA Party candidates lost because they were stiff-armed by the national Party. They are now saying, “See? If you run TEA Party candidates, they lose!” What they don’t want people to know is those candidates lost because they were sabotaged by the national Party’s election committees, not because they were “bad” candidates.

I think your analysis is correct.

I’ll put it this way: The only time I ever voted FOR a candidate was Reagan in 1980. And that is the excuse a LOT of obama voters used in 2012. Their vote was a vote against Romney.

I’ll vote against McConnel every chance I get. Hopefully that is only once.

What difference does it make if he is the Majority leader. The first thing the SOB will do is caucus with the Democrats, allow them to run rough shot over the Senate.

Like Bonehead in the House. He's violated the Hastert rule so much by rounding up Rat votes for bills the rule no longer exists. Something like five times?

(For those who don't know, the "Hastert rule" was the Speaker would not allow a vote on a bill if it didn't have a majority of Republican support. Bonehead has moved bills with as few as 28 Republican votes, and they passed with 100% Rat support.)

It’s the only thing that makes sense.

They gave zero to Sharon Angle, she lost to Dingy Harry.
They gave zero to Christine O’Donnell and she lost to somebody.
They gave zero to Todd Akin, he lost.
They gave zero to Richard Mourdock and he lost.
They gave zero to Joe Miller and he lost to a write-in candidate that he defeated in the Primary.

(There are others, these were off the top of my head.)

Now they’re sitting back and declaring, “Look, see? TEA Party candidates are a bunch of losers!”

The flaw in your logic is that there’ll be a general election following the primary.

Bevins will be up against a pretty powerful Democrat machine that has a good track record of winning statewide elections. He’ll get no help from the KY GOP apparatus, which is controlled by McConnell’s people. He’ll get little if any help from the national GOP apparatus, which is controlled by McConnell’s friends.

People here’s will b*tch to high heaven about that, without considering that politics is a contact sport and that if we’re willing to burn McConnell down he and his people and his friends have every right to go scortched earth in response. If no quarter is given, none can be asked, right?

in retaking the Senate next year and don’t have confidence in the more ideologically acceptable Bevins to be able to take on Grimes and the KY Dem machine (which is pretty powerful).

You don't take the Senate with McConnel still there, it will be his senate and Dingy Harry has shown them how to really wield power.

Oh really?

I think Chinless and the rest of the GOPe would take issue with you about that. They expect TEA Party candidates who lose to them to suck it up and support them in the General Election. There is no implied right to engage in a "scorched earth policy."

Yes, and the pro-abortion, pro-gay marriage, pro-obamacare, anti-gun crowd is counting on all the KY FReepers here who are committing to vote for Grimes.

I am glad to see the realization here, that taking the Senate out of Reid’s hands is more important than getting rid of McConnell.

The reason the clean debt ceiling bill couldn’t be amended is because Reid shuts them all down.

I’m not too sure of that. McConnell took enough of a blowtorch to Ashley Judd last year that it scared her out of running.

A lot of that had to do with her residency status and whether or not Judd was actually able to run "legally" in the commonwealth. It had little to do with her ideology or positions - which given McConnell's record - is one that will eviscerate Conservatives, and treat with kid gloves - the actual Democrat ideology and positions.

McConnell keeps insisting HE has tried to stop Obama "all the way", that HE opposed the debt hike, the TARP bailout, and stopped Obama's war on coal. Like everything: he's so full of crap it's oozing out of his shell. He's done nothing but play games - to create illusions of his 'KY Conservative values'. He's a D.C. hack that would rather shine Obama's shoes and funnel money into his war chest than actually lead

The McConnell machine is really the Democrat machine in this state. They would rather lose the seat to an Obama stooge Marxist than allow a Conservative to fill it. McConnell has been waging a shameless and personal war on Bevin for a year now - and he's not letting up.

Y’know, Mitch McConnell gets an 80% rating from Heritage, that’s better than 2/3 of the Republican Senate.

Meanwhile, Graham (52%) is our 9th most liberal out of 45, and Cochran (57%) is 15th most liberal out of 45.

Shouldn’t the focus be on getting rid of liberals in deep-red states (like Graham and Cochran), and replacing Harry Reid as SML?

I don’t love McConnell, but isn’t the effort to get rid of him somewhat misplaced?

I’d hate to see Harry Reid hang on as SML because Grimes defeated Bevin - that would be incredibly painful.

If McConnell was really as much a Dem stooge/enabler as people claim, wouldn’t he have worked just as hard to hand the seat now held by Rand Paul to them a cycle ago?

I mean, I know that he tried to undermine Paul (which was dumb) but if McConnell wanted to keep the Senate in Dem hands he could have destroyed Paul pretty easily.

Listen, I’m not saying that there aren’t a lot of good reasons to oppose McConnell. And I’m certainly not endorsing him as the guy I really want. But I’m trying to be strategic here following heartbreaking losses in IN, MO, DE and NV over the last few cycles. And I’m seeing a of ill considered if not irrational and completely short sighted arguments being put forward by folks I have a good deal of respect for (but also high expectations of)

Last Fall I watched a single minority Senator drag his minority Party’s caucus into a major strategic win (if also a tactical loss) by shutting down the government.

It may be a roll of the dice, but if getting Cruz into a position where he can drive a majority caucus into action against the extremist Liberal judicial nominees, cabinet appointments and legislative demands that are going to come forth from Obama over his last two years (possibly setting the stage for a retake of the White House in 2016), then yes, maybe accepting McConnell as Majority Leader to get Reid out would be a good thing.

Esp. since there WILL be more Cruz-like Senators coming down the pike.

I’ll say it again, our vote doesn’t matter anymore. National-impacted elections will be ‘decided’ by the “machine” with ‘theater’ crafted to placate the masses into thinking we have an actual ‘choice’ in selecting our rulers.

But then, I’m in a tiny minority of folks not infected with Normalcy Bias and understand the fact that we have been overthrown in a Marxist coup that most want to pretend did not happen.

McConnell and Boehner have enabled much of what Obama has gotten away with. It may be more advantageous for Obama to keep McConnell in his position than to simply have a rubber stamp freshman without the power seat, it keeps the illusion alive and well.

Why do “we” need to take the Senate if the RINO’s just give us Dem-lite?

Go drink your beer of feeling good in the short term when another Rino is defeated and the seat goes to the democrats.

We don’t learn do we?

I’m all for ridding these guys, trust me I am, but DO IT AFTER WE’VE GOT THE CONTROL OF THE SENATE.

What did we achieve by running the likes of a Christine O’Donnell? Tell me? And the primaries where we knocked out the incumbunt only to see it go to the democrat.

It’s the posts from blow hards like you that make no sense.

I want their butts drummed out MUCH MORE THAN ANYONE, but let’s get control of the Senate, and then bounce their ears out.
